Celtics Rain in Stallions 45-0; Take Division Crown

As if lightning had struck twice; actually it probably did during the second half of the game; the Bayshore Brawlers not only won the game 45-0 in a rain soaked contest; couple that with the Energy losing to the Devils, and the Brawlers repeated as regular season Division Champions.  The game played in the backyard of Stallions was decided not by the offense but the defense as the Brawlers held their second opponent to negative yardage for a game at -30.  Ed Cox was flawless once again as he was 4 for 6 for 55 yards and two touchdowns.  Providing the running game was Sy Patterson who had two touchdowns and 63 yards on just 4 carries.  Catching a touchdown each was Fred Leo for 24 yards and Marcus Haynes for 26.  The defense on this day was led by Stephon Hickson who had 8 total tackles and a sack and Ryan Bringhurst who added 5 total tackles.  Also adding a sack was Dave Strollo which led to a safety. The Stallions failed to complete a pass during the game as well as had -30 yards on 18 carries.

The Brawlers struck first as Sy Patterson returned an interception 25 yards for a TD.  After two downs of negative yardage, Stephon Hickson sacked the Stallions quarterback in the endzone for a safety.  Two plays later after a holding penalty, Cox hit Haynes for the touchdown pass of 23 yards.  The defense again held the Stallions to a 4 and out which led to a Cox 3 yard run for a TD.  The Stallions picked up the games only first down but, on a 2nd and 15, Fred Leo intercepted the pass to set up the Brawlers shop first and 10 on the Brawler 12.  Cox then gave the ball to Sy Patterson who scampered 38 yards for paydirt.  With a Strollo safety and a 16 yard Patterson run to begin the second half the Brawlers were rolling at 35-0.  After Haynes’ interception a Cox to Leo hookup for 24 yards completed the scoring.  Providing extra points were David Morera, Marcus Haynes and Sy Patterson.
