BRAWLERS/DEVILS: IT FELT LIKE 2006 IN LAURENCE HARBOR, NJ

- The Bayshore Brawlers and Sunbury Devils met at the Laurence Harbor Little League Complex and it was a match-up of what could be called contradicting styles of play. Coming off the bus, the brought Devils their "Arena Football-type" passing attack and the Brawlers had their patented "grind-it-out game plan" featuring the return of QB Ed Cox & 2006 MLFN All-American running back Sy Patterson.

- The Devils would start off with the ball, but shortly into their drive DB Fred Leo intercepted a Troup pass and returned it 40 yards to give the Brawlers the early lead. Sunbury's next drive was filled with incomplete passes, as the Brawlers gained excellent field position and a quick strike from Cox to Haynes eventually made the score 14-0 Brawlers. Both teams next few drives were filled with excellent play by the defensive lines and defensive backs, but Marques Haynes was able to snag a 21 yard pass from Cox to bring the score (including XP) 21-0. Still in the first quarter, Sy Patterson had a huge 44 yard run to bring the score to 27-0. The Devils kickoff return unit, a highlight in what would be an otherwise challenging day, gave the team excellent field position as Darryl Troup executed a perfect pass to Kevin Light to make the scoreboard now read 27-6.

- In the second quarter, Will Smith would run the ball out from 2 yards and Marques Haynes caught a two yard pass to bring the score 41-6 as both team entered halftime.
- The Devils were just unable to stop the Brawlers in the second half as Dave "Spanky" Morera, J.J., and "the grandpa" himself Dave Strollo scored touchdowns. RBs Will Smith and Fred Leo had their second scores of the game to eventually brought the outcome to 73-6.
- On defense, the Brawlers were lead by Rowan Collge product John Hartman who had 12 tackles and 2 sacks in the contest.

- In the end, the Brawlers were able to pull out a 73-6 victory and move their record to 2-1, as the expansion Devils will have to wait one more week and see if they can get that "W."

The BRAWLERS (2-1) take it on the road in Week 5 as they play the undefeated Williamsport WILDCATS (4-0) in BillTown!

The DEVILS (0-4)travel to
