The Brawlers scored the games first points as Manuel Foy hit Marques Haynes from 21 yards out. The versatile Dave Ernst added a touchdown later in the first quarter with a 3 yard run. Sy Patterson continued to prove that he might be one of the PFL/6’s best by opening the second quarter with an outstanding 8 yard run to bring the game Brawlers 21 and Raptors 0. The Raptors did not feel like the game was anywhere near over though as they would rather quickly on a pass from Bashore to Pritchard, but the Brawlers answered right back. Dave Ernst scored his second touchdown in the first half; this one being from 2 yards out. Going into half the score was 27-8. In the third quarter, Bashore would connect with both Pritchard and Drayton to make the game very competitive. The Brawlers though were able to get their offense going to in the second half as Haynes and Patterson each added their second touchdowns of the game. Bashore, the quarterback for the Raptors, showed in the fourth quarter that he will be a quarterback to watch for this season and the future once again; as he connected with two more receivers to score touchdowns, but the Brawlers offense and special teams had a little too much firepower left in them. That included the 41 yard kickoff return by the all over the field presence in Dave Ernst. With nearly 300 people in attendance, including the mayor of Old Bridge, the Brawlers walked off the field victorious once again. Don’t think though that this game did not have defense. For the Raptors, Myers led the game with a total of 13 tackles. Hoke, Sharp, and Williams each contributed with 8 of their own. Dan Fort led the Brawlers with 5. Frank Susino and linebacker Antoine Tolbert each intercepted Raptors’ quarterback Bashore once in the game. The Brawlers will be traveling to the newly revamped Lykens Thunder next weekend, and the South Central Raptors will be given the week off. For the full boxscore and stats, please click here
